Shorthand is an excellent tool that allows you to save time when typing short or long phrases. It does so by linking keywords to phrases. You can type any of the saved keywords and the phrases linked to them will be automatically inserted into your text. This also applies to keyboard shortcuts; when a combination of keystrokes is activated, a phrase can be inserted into a text but also an action can be executed.
You can disable the auto replace feature to avoid affecting your typing, and open the program’s GUI manually, type a keyword and insert its result into your text.
The program can be also used to avoid typographical error (typos), for example, the word "and" can be automatically corrected if it was typed as "adb" mistakenly. The program's GUI doesn't need to be opened all the time. You can add keywords to the current dictionaries or create new files with your own words.
The program works in almost all the applications where text can be typed. To work in Internet Explorer it requires to disable the protected mode in the Security settings.
